Practice

What I translate and how I work.

01Fields of work

Legal translation is the core of my practice. Around it sits a tightly related set of fields where accuracy is not negotiable, and where the wrong word carries a real cost.

Legal translation

Contracts, statutes, judgments, and constitutional and treaty texts, the core of my practice, where precision is absolute and the margin for error is zero.

Financial translation

Reports, financial statements, debt and sovereign-finance documentation, and the precise language of development finance.

Institutional translation

The working documents of international organisations: proposals, agreements, procedural and policy texts.

Governance

Frameworks, regulations and the institutional architecture that turns policy into practice.

Development

Programme and project documentation for the institutions advancing the continent's development agenda.

02Languages

Core working languages

English and French, in both directions, my daily working pair, at full professional and legal register.

An extended language network

Through a trusted network of specialist colleagues, and the careful, supervised use of modern language technology, I also coordinate translation into English and French from other languages, including Swahili, German and Spanish, and West African languages such as Twi, Ga, Ewe and Yoruba.

03Method

Every engagement runs on a simple promise: accurate work, delivered on time, and handled with discretion. The process behind it is deliberately unremarkable, which is exactly the point.

Process

Each project starts with its purpose and audience. Scope, format and timeline are agreed up front; I then translate, self-revise and quality-check before anything reaches you, publication-ready, without a second pass.

Quality and review

I revise every translation against the source before delivery, checking terminology, consistency, register and meaning. The work arrives ready for your own review and publication process.

Confidentiality & data

Your documents are confidential by default, and I work under NDA whenever required. Files are handled on privately hosted, access-controlled systems, with every tool chosen with data protection in mind and aligned to internationally accepted standards.

Turnaround

Standard turnaround is comfortable and predictable, and tighter deadlines are usually possible. We confirm timing together before work begins, so there are no surprises on either side.

Technology

Modern translation technology supports the work where it is appropriate. It improves consistency and efficiency; the final judgement remains human.
